WARSAW — Thomas Tad Bohlsen, 52, 4926 E. CR 575N, Whiteland, has been arrested after knowingly writing $25,100 in bad checks for land contract properties.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the case. In 2015, Bohlsen allegedly purchased a home on land contract. According to an affidavit of probable cause, he wrote a total of five checks, adding up to $25,100, to the seller.
Soon, however, the checks began returning. Checks dated Jan. 8, 2015, for $5,000, Nov. 6, 2015, for $5,000 and March 15, 2016, for $5,000 all came back as insufficient funds. Two others, one dated Dec. 10, 2015, for $5,000 and the other dated Dec. 15, 2015, for $5,100, came back as, “unable to locate account.”
The seller contacted the prosecutor’s office May 23, to report the incident. Bohlsen was arrested Wednesday, Aug. 24, and charged with five counts of check fraud, a level six felony. He was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail with bond set at $5,250 surety and cash.
