WARSAW — Rhydeem Othello Hudson, 20, 404 N. Parker St., Apt. 6, Warsaw, who was already incarcerated at the Kosciusko County Jail, has been charged with two counts of battery – bodily injury to law enforcement officer, one a level 5 felony, the other a level 6 felony, after an incident inside the jail Jan. 11.
Court documents state Jan. 11, two jail officers responded to an inmate verbally abusing the nurse. While the officers were escorting Hudson back to his cell, he actively resisted by trying to get his arms free and pushing against the officers. At one point he was able to get his left arm free and use his elbow to hit one officer on the left side of the face.
Officers regained control of Hudson and while they continued escorting him, he started to resist again, causing himself and one of the officers to fall to the floor. Hudson landed on top of the officer’s ankle, which was believed to be broken. The officer was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital where it was learned the ankle was sprained and possibly chipped.
Hudson is now being held on $101,000 surety and cash bond.
