Buck Slone

A Warsaw man was arrested last night after allegedly attacking another man with a deadly weapon.

According to an incident report filed by Warsaw Police Department, at 7:46 p.m. yesterday evening officers were called to respond to the 200 block of West Jefferson Street in Warsaw in regards to a battery involving a deadly weapon. Buck Slone, 52, of 316 S. Washington St. Apt. 3, Warsaw, was arrested for battery with a deadly weapon.

According to the report filed by WPD, Slone reportedly attacked Jack Daniels, 32, of Warsaw while in his residence with a box cutting knife. Further information regarding the incident and Daniels’ condition are unknown at this time.

Slone was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for battery with a deadly weapon and was given a $5,000 surety bond. Further information will be posted as it becomes available.

Kosciusko County Sheriff Rocky Goshert has a new addition to the sheriff department’s roster.  Roberto Martinez recently replaced a vacancy within the Sheriff’s Department Jail Confinement division.

Martinez was initially an Ivy Tech (Warsaw) intern student working in the jail division last summer, until his recent hiring. During his internship, he was able to successfully obtain his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, and is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree.

Martinez moved to the Warsaw area when he was 7 years old, and is a 2010 graduate of Warsaw High School. Sheriff Rocky Goshert and Captain Aaron Rovenstine stated Martinez will be an exceptional asset to the jail division with his ability to speak bilingually, in addition to his personality.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department internship program was developed in the early 1990’s by then-Sheriff Al Rovenstine. Since the conception, several of the participants have continued their law enforcement careers in the jail division and even onto to the road section. Several of these transitions took place under the command of former Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine and current Sheriff Rocky Goshert.

Sheriff Goshert and Captain Rovenstine stated Martinez was selected from a group of excellent candidates.
